A Little Bit Of Random

So a here are some things I wanna mention really quick:

1. Check out a post I wrote for Rich over at whats your dna? It took me a while to get it together, but I think it turned out well. You can let me know what you think :)

2. Please continue to pray for Ron's family and the Story Side: B guys, his memorial is tomorrow and I know they will need some extra strength to start the very sad, sudden, goodbye process. A donation fund has been setup for Ron's wife for the funeral costs. For more info you can visit the band's myspace

3. Please join me in prayer for whatever my next job will be, Berean has about a week and a half left of being open and then that's it. Also pray that God gives me and my co-workers the grace and patience to not clobber the next customer that asks "Is this on sale?" (even though there are signs saying that everything is on sale!) haha. A little dramatic, I know, but seriously...it gets hard sometimes.

4. This may not be a big deal to you but to me it was a huge deal that on my "Here's to 2009" post my FAVORITE author, Matthew Paul Turner, left a thank you comment to me for adding the churched button to my blog (just to the right)! I was really excited =) It made my day yesterday.

5. Congrats to our new President, may God's loving, faithful hand guide him in the challenging days ahead.

In honor of inauguration day here's this...

Hope you all are having an awesome week :)

My Heart Goes Out...

In 2003 when Saltza went to compete in Nashville, we had the privilege of meeting Story Side: B. At the time there were only 2 of them, but they went on to success and still have stayed down to earth. I try to keep in touch as often as I can. Last night, I was shocked to read that they had lost one of their band members. Ron McClelland, SS:B's amazing bass player, was on a cruise with his wife and collapsed while playing basketball. Medics were unable to revive him. The guys have experienced a tremendous loss.

My heart goes out to Ron's wife and family, and of course to his brothers; Lu, Jordan, and Preston. I have seen these guys play a couple times over the last few years and spoke with them afterward, and you can see by the way they relate that they are so much more than band mates...they are family. They will never be the same. Ron will never be forgotten and will always be missed.

My love and prayers go out to these precious people, now mourning the loss of a loved one.

Please send out a prayer for them today.

The road to recovery after this will be a long one, pray for continued strength and that God's sweet grace will carry them through.

Here's To 2009...

Hi Friends!

I am sorry it has taken me so long to get back on here. I have to admit I have felt a little lacking in the words department lately. So I'm just gonna jump right in and see what happens.

First off, Happy New Year! I hope your 2009 is off to a great start, and well if its not I hope it gets better. As for me, its off to a great start. Maybe not great in the traditional sense of the word, but great by my standards, simply because its new. It's a good excuse to force yourself to "forget what is behind" and continue pressing on. That's part of the charm in New Year's, you recap on everything that the previous year was, both good and bad, and you get to leave it there. Some things are best kept in the past. I see so many people get caught up in the wonder of a new year and they resolve to better themselves or set goals we all know they won't meet. I feel that a new year is simply marking an anniversary...after all the ups, downs, and bumps in the road...I survived another year! The last few years this has been a HUGE celebration. The start of a new year, and the reflection on the year that has passed brings me back to My Source. I look back at all that the previous year held that I never thought I would make it through and yet somehow, God remained faithful, despite my weakness and brokenness. It really is amazing to me how faithful He is. That is why my 2009 is off to a great start, how could it not be? As His mercy is new every morning, I can have a new hope everyday that he will continue to surprise me with his goodness. I have no clue what this year will hold, just like I had no idea what last year was going to hold, but I feel so much rest in the fact that my life is not my own and that it is in His hands. Come February I won't have my current job anymore, but I have such a peace about it. I know that God has walked all these paths before me and that I will be okay. It may not necessarily be easy, but I know I will always be taken care of.

As we all are getting back into the routine of our daily lives, now that all the holidays are over, and there are no more long lines, bumper to bumper traffic (for the most part), my prayer for you is that you experience the peace and rest that comes in the stillness. It is in the stillness that God touches your heart and gives you that assurance that no matter what is going on in the world around us, we're okay.

In the midst of uncertainty....its gonna be okay. We're all gonna be make it.

I'm looking forward to continuing my journey through this blog and I hope you'll continue to join me. Also, check out my dad's blog, he writes uplifting devotions everyday which gives me something to aspire to :)

Here's to a 2009 filled with the grace, mercy, love, and peace from One who knows what the year will bring you. Trust Him. I promise, its the only way to not be brought down by the times.
